Pinterest Inspiration

So maybe it's because I'm more into it or maybe just because I'm bored, but I wanted to write another post. My life isn't super interesting so I didn't really have anything to write about. Here's my attempt at something somewhat fun. I found all these craft ideas that I want to try from Pinterest. Unfortunately, I don't have much room to keep all of my fun little crafts at our house so I thought I would make a couple gifts. With the wedding coming up I wanted to get my sisters something extra for all the work they've put into helping me. I couldn't really think of anything. At first I thought I would do gift cards (to kind of help replenish some of the funds they've lost with this whole thing) and then I thought jewelry but remembered that I am not fashionable AT ALL and they always make fun of things I buy. Quinn secretly shares my interest in the crafts I found online so he suggested doing something more personal. Since my sisters don't follow my blog (or at least I don't think they do) I figured it was safe to post pictures.
This one is for my younger sister. I took the picture and I worked with photoshop to single out the yellow. I got an 8x10 picture printed and cut it into quarters. Quinn cut and sanded the wood and put the hooks on the back for me. It's just a more fun way to hang pictures instead of always having to use picture frames.
This one is for my older sister. I asked her to send me a few pictures from her wedding that she liked. I was hoping to use one with people, but since I had to cut it I found it easier to use something that wouldn't have it's eyes cut in half or something weird. I took the picture of her bouquet and again singled out one color. I know it doesn't seem creative to do the same thing twice, but they don't live together so I thought it would be ok. I told my mom that I used that picture over the other ones and she seemed to think it was a good idea because they never preserved her bouquet so at least now she'll have the picture displayed if she wants. The picture that I actually put on the wood squares had the quote she used for all of her wedding stuff (invitations, favors, programs, etc) which was "All I'm after is a life full of laughter as long as I'm laughing with you". I added in smaller print the date of their wedding 07.03.10. I think it turned out pretty cute for what it was. Hopefully they'll like them and find a place to display them.

A note about my previous post

I did write the previous post with paragraphs and spacing. It didn't seem like such a rant when I typed it up. Sorry :)

Things going on...

So we've had a few things going on recently. I ran my first half marathon on January 7th. It's called the Red Nose Half Marathon. I wish it was cool enough to get a red nose! It was raining and turned out to be in the 60's. The only good thing was by the time I finished it was only starting to get warm. I might try for another one in May, but after that I'm going to have to wait until after the summer. I don't do well running in heat and humidity. I did the 13 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes. I was hoping to be closer to 2 hours, but I decided beforehand that if I could finish under 2 1/2 hours that I would be happy. I trained for a couple months before, but not like I should have been and the week of Christmas really ruined my routine. The night before I was just hoping that I wouldn't finish last! After the race Quinn decided that he wanted to try another race. He's not into running much, but I guess it motivated him to want to compete a little. I signed us up for a "Sweethearts Relay". It's on February 11th and Quinn will be running about 2 miles and I'll be doing 1 1/2 miles. He's fast, but I'm not great at short distance running. I used to be a sprinter in high school, but the farthest I ever ran in a race was 800m. I don't really know how to run a mile an a half at a fast pace without hitting a wall too soon. Either way it'll be fun and we get a gift card towards dinner after so that'll be fun. I've been having more trouble with our church for the wedding. I almost want to write them a letter after the wedding letting them know that in the beginning it was very important to me to get married in the church, but after all the headaches I've had to deal with during this process I don't even want to attend church anytime soon. It's not like they're doing us a favor. We have to pay to get married there so you'd think they would work with us a little more. Ugh. It's frustrating. I've been trying to get approval to use a song for months. I hadn't heard anything so I got the program template approved and sent an email to the musicians with all the music for the ceremony. Then I started printing out the program. No lie, the next day I got an email asking if the song I wanted was approved. UMMM last I remember that was your job to find out AND I asked over 3 months ago. I figured that since the program was approved and nobody had said otherwise that the song was also approved. I emailed back requesting them to get it figured out and let me know as soon as possible so I would know if I had to reprint all of the programs. That was over a week ago. I still have yet to hear from them. They have another week and then I'm printing and putting together the programs as is. Too bad. Whew. Sorry about that. It's been super frustrating to me and since we still need for them to marry us I haven't been able to let them know how I'm really feeling about the situation. Other than that we're at just about a month left until the wedding. Last April I thought the wedding was soooo far off. Now it's kind of like crunch time for me to get everything done and figured out. We're still waiting on a lot of response cards, but hopefully within the next week we'll get them all back. We don't have as many people coming as I had hoped so that's kind of sad, but it'll still be fun. I just hope the weather cooperates otherwise there will only be a handful of us there. I'm putting myself and Quinn on a more restricted diet starting in February. We've been trying to watch what we eat since the new year, but we still indulge on the weekends. Neither one of us are overweight, but I know we'll both feel better if we drop a couple pounds each. Well that's all I have for now. I know it's a lot of complaining, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks everything will work out and I won't feel so stressed. It's been a fun process and I've enjoyed it. The little things are what I could do without. Oh well. 33 days left!!!

Pinterest

How did I miss the excitement of Pinterest?!?! Not working leaves me a lot of time to search through all the cute, yummy, and fun things throughout that site. I feel so compelled to make EVERY craft I find and every recipe as well. I keep looking around our place disappointed that it's too small and already decorated. I would love to create some basic furniture and a ton of wall art. I love pictures, but picture frames get boring (especially since I insist on hanging them symmetrically). I've been finding different ways to hang frames on Pinterest, but also different types of art/decorations that are creative and fun. I can't wait until we can one day buy a house so I can paint and decorate however I want. I wish I would have seen this site before all our wedding planning. I could have used so many other cute ideas instead of some of the things I've done already. Oh well. That's why I have another sister I guess. I can create fun things for her shower and wedding when she gets married. I'm hoping for my older sister to have a baby soon so I can break out some of the cute baby ideas that I keep seeing!! I will continue to pin things to my page until I can create them all!!
